AI, since 2001
The master’s thesis at NHH in 2001 was on artificial neural networks. The setup resembled today’s language models: a network trained on historical data to predict the next step in a sequence. The difference was that it predicted whether the stock index would go up or down the next day, not the next word.
Since then: investor in AI companies through Startuplab, and user of AI, and manager of AI users, as CEO of Hima Seafood. Enough to be useful; not enough to give talks about it.
The name
Scaledraft joins two words. Scale up: to grow – to increase in size without breaking the model. Draft: to draw, as in a sketch or a plan on paper, but also to pull, as in a draft horse.
Both meanings are in the work: the plan is drawn up with the management team, and then pulled through.
